Miriam Layne
Hi! I’m Miriam and I’m the STEP@Pitt President! I’m a senior majoring in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry and Music. Throughout my undergrad, I’ve been involved with STEP in varying roles including a sitter, puppy raiser for Camille V, and Wellness Officer, and I cannot wait to continue to serve you this year as your President! STEP has been an integral part of my college experience and has taught me so much about Canine Companions and the life changing impact of their dogs! I’m looking forward to another amazing year of growth, education, and fun!
Vice President of Raisers
Kelsey McGraw
Hi! I’m Kelsey and I am STEP@Pitt’s Vice President of Raisers! I am a senior majoring in Environmental Science with minors in Chemistry and Creative Writing. I’ve been involved with STEP since my sophomore year and it has truly made such an everlasting impression. I am so grateful to STEP for the community, opportunities and educational experiences it has given me. Currently, I am raising my sweet and wonderful first puppy, Samosa!
Vice President of Sitters
Katrina Rakusan
Hi! I’m Katrina and I’m the Vice President of Sitters for STEP@Pitt! I’m a senior, majoring in Psychology with a certificate in Children’s Literature. I first became involved with STEP@Pitt at the beginning of my freshman year, and STEP was actually one of the reason I chose Pitt. STEP@Pitt has been an integral part of my college experience and I have learned so much about service dogs, Canine Companions, and the service dog community. Throughout my time in STEP I have been a puppy sitter, puppy raiser to Twix II, Fundraising and Events Officer and I am so excited to continue to be involved this year as Vice President of Sitters.
Outreach Officer
Emma Levick
Hi! I’m Emma, your STEP outreach officer! I’m a history major and am doing certificates in Nonprofit Management and Public and Professional Writing. I am a Canine Companions graduate, first with service dog Zia and now successor service dog Midas. I am a big advocate for Canine Companions and the ways service dogs change lives, having had this experience first hand. I joined STEP in my freshman year and have found a community of passionate people who believe in and support the mission of Canine Companions as much as I do.
Public Relations Officer
Colleen Hale
Hi! My name is Colleen and I am the Public Relations Officer for STEP@Pitt. I am a Senior majoring in Emergency Medicine. I became involved in STEP during my freshman year and have been a dedicated puppy sitter ever since. STEP has been such an important part of my college experience and has allowed me to meet so many amazing people and pups. I am looking forward to serving as the Public Relations Officer! I can't wait for an amazing year with the people and pups in this club!
Secretary
Marissa Bordone
Hi! I’m Marissa, and i’m the STEP@Pitt Secretary! I’m a sophomore intending to become a part of the Emergency Medicine Program. I have been involved in the club since the fall of my freshman year, I have been a sitter since last spring, and I am an aspiring raiser! I am so thankful for the relationships and accomplishments I have made in STEP so far! I can’t wait to help continue the clubs success with the rest of Eboard this year!!
Fundraising and Events Officer
Lilly Nelson
Hi! I’m Lilly, and I am the Fundraising and Events Officer for STEP@Pitt. I am a senior majoring in Biological Sciences and English Writing with Chemistry and GSWS minors. I became a member and sitter with STEP@Pitt my freshman year and have loved the experience ever since! STEP@Pitt has become one of my favorite portions of my college experience, and I have so much appreciation and respect for Canine Companions and the roles service dogs can have in individuals’ lives. I am so excited to serve as your Fundraising and Events Officer this year!
Business Manager
Kailey Vento
Hi! I’m Kailey and I’m the Business Manager for STEP@Pitt. I’m a sophomore majoring in Bioengineering with a certificate in Engineering Design and Advanced Manufacturing. I have been a puppy sitter for STEP since my freshman year at Pitt and I love hanging out with the club pups. I’m very excited to be given the opportunity to step into this role to make puppy raising more accessible to college students on Pitt’s campus!
Wellness Officer
Sara McClory
Hi! My name is Sara and I’m the Wellness Officer for STEP this year! I’m a senior majoring in Biology and Anthropology. I’m raising Canine Companions puppy Clementine VI. STEP has been an incredible part of my experience in college and I feel so lucky to have been given the opportunity to puppy raise. I’m excited to continue spreading awareness about service dogs and serve as your Wellness Officer!
